What to do in the North Carolina Mountains

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

The New ZMax Drag way at Charlotte Motor Speedway is Awesome!!!

Looking for something new and exciting to do in the Western North Carolina Mountains? Check out the brand new NHRA Drag Strip in Charlotte!

The new ZMax Drag way is the newest and many say the best NHRA Drag Strip in the country, and guss what? it’s right in our backyard!

In the Mountains of Western North Carolina there are so many options for fun and excitement, but the new drag strip tops them all (in my opinion) These cars are going from a dead stop to over 300 miles per hour in less than 4 seconds! As they go by the power of two 8,000 horse power cars blurs your vision!!!

For the first race at this new track we had great seats and full pit pass access. While walking around meeting the drivers, watching the crews overhall the cars we enjoyed the burning sensation in our eyes from the Nitro fule as they warmed up the cars before the race.

“zMAX Dragway @ Concord will set the new standard for drag racing facilities around the world. “The Bellagio of Dragstrips” will open in grand fashion with the NHRA Nationals on Sept. 11-14. The top drivers from all four of NHRA’s professional categories - Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle - will descend on zMAX Dragway to begin the six-race NHRA POWERade Series Countdown to the Championship and race for the chance to be crowned NHRA POWERade world champions. Dragway Fast Facts!

Saturday, September 13, 2008 Larry Dixon put a temporary hold on Tony Schumacher’s recent dominance by racing to the No. 1 qualifying position in Top Fuel Saturday at the NHRA Carolinas Nationals. Meanwhile, Funny Car icon John Force failed to qualify in his debut at the spectacular zMAX Dragway and the opening race of the Countdown to 1, NHRA’s playoffs. Frank Hawley, Kurt Johnson and Matt Smith held on to their quick performances from Friday and also will lead their respective categories into Sunday’s 11 a.m. eliminations at the first of six races in the POWERade Drag Racing Series Countdown to 1.”
